Former New Hampshire head basketball coach Jim Boylan has been named the interim head coach of the Chicago Bulls for the remainder of the 2007-08 season.

Boylan was in his fourth year as an assistant coach with the Bulls and 14th season overall as an assistant in the NBA. His only head coaching experience at any level was at New Hampshire, when he compiled a record of 15-69 from 1989-92.

In the NBA, the 52-year-old Boylan also has been an assistant in Cleveland under Mike Fratello (1993-97), Vancouver under Brian Hill (1997-2000), Phoenix under Scott Skiles (2000-01) and Atlanta under Terry Stotts (2003-04).

As a player, Boylan helped lead Marquette to the 1977 NCAA Championship. He was later drafted by the Buffalo Braves in the fourth round of the 1979 NBA draft. His daughter, Jessie, is a graduate of Stony Brook University and is an assistant coach for the Seawolves' women's basketball team.
