Brook University senior outside hitter Jackie Ahlers (Stony Point, N.Y.) has
earned American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Honorable Mention
All-America honors, the organization announced on Wednesday. Ahlers was
recently named to the AVCA All-Northeast Region team, making her eligible for
All-American honors.
The 2007 America
East Player of the Year, Ahlers played in every
game of every match as she led the Seawolves to 24 wins and the conference’s
regular season crown. She finished first in the conference with 5.08 kills per
game and 5.61 points per game, and ended the regular season with the
conference's second-best hitting percentage of .339. The 5.08 kills per game
also ranked her 14th in the nation.
The three-time AVCA All-Northeast
Region selection and now three-time honorable mention All-America had 620 kills
on the season which ranks as the third highest single-season total in program
history and the 5.08 kills per game is second behind Alarmis Miranda’s 5.56 in
1999.
