Lyons, Martinez, Onto, Recore Capture Weekly Awards

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--University of Vermont's Colin Lyons and University of Hartford's Kaycee Martinez earned weekly honors as America East Men's and Women's Track Performers of the Week, while UMBC's Keith Onto and University of Vermont's Jaime Recore received America East Field Performers of the Week.

Junior Lyons (Elizabeth, Colo./Elizabeth) won the 1000m and 1500m races at the Montreal Open hosted by McGill University this weekend. He posted a time of 2:38.87 in the 1000 meters and 4:14.52 in the 1500 meters.

Sophomore Martinez (South Yarmouth, Mass./Dennis Yarmouth HS) finished third in the 400 m at Harvard Invitational with a time of 59.16. She also led off the mile relay team which ran 4:05.07 finishing second to host Harvard University.

Sophomore Onto (Pt. Pleasant, N.J./Pt. Pleasant Borough/St. Francis Pa.) set a new UMBC record in the heptathlon event last weekend at the Kent State Golden Flash Gala. He amassed a total of 5,052 points in the seven-part event, smashing the previous record of 4,688 points. Onto recorded career-best marks in five of seven events over the weekend, also qualifying for the 2008 IC4A Championships with his final score in the heptathlon.

Senior Recore (Conway, Mass./Frontier Regional) set a new personal best for the second straight week, this time in the weight throw with a toss of 14.39 m. She finished first overall in the event at the Montreal Open hosted by McGill University.

Albany returns to the track on Friday, Jan. 11 at the Army Invitational in West Point, N.Y.

Binghamton
The Bearcats will return to action Saturday, January, 12 at the Black Knight Invitational beginning at 1 p.m.

Boston U

The Boston University women's and men's indoor track teams competed at the Harvard Invitational Saturday at the Gordon Track, with senior Marisa Ryan and sophomore Sarah Mosser taking the top two spots in the mile. Sophomore Whitney Ford placed first in the 60m, while on the men's side sophomore Kodjo Wilder placed fifth in the long jump. [Boston Story]

Hartford

The men’s and women’s track and field teams continued their indoor season competing at the Harvard University Open Track Meet on Saturday. Members of the women’s track team also competed at the 14th Annual Rhode Island Pentathlon on Friday afternoon. Both teams will return to action after the New Year at the Reebok Indoor on January 25th in Boston, MA. [Hartford Story]

UMBC

Sophomore William Brehm (Pembroke, N.H.) scored a pair of individual wins and a first-place finish in the team relay to lead the University of New Hampshire men’s indoor track and field team to a 95-71 victory over the University of Maine on Saturday at the UMaine Field House. Stony Brook
