CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-- The 2007 America East Men's Soccer
Championship begins on Saturday, November 10 with a pair of quarterfinal
games at the home field of the higher seed.
The tournament
gets started at 1 p.m. with No. 6 New Hampshire at No. 3 Boston University. The
second quarterfinal begins at 6 p.m. with No. 5 UMBC traveling to No.
4 Hartford. The winner of the New Hampshire-Boston U. matchup will face
No. 2 Vermont in the semifinals on Wednesday, November 14 at 1:30 p.m.in Burlington. The winner of UMBC-Hartford will take on top-seeded
Binghamton in the other semifinal on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Vestal.
The
championship game with take place on Saturday, November 17 or 18 at the highest
remaining seed. The winner of the America East Championship earns an
automatic berth to the NCAA Men's Soccer championship.
The Bearcats captured their second straight America East regular-season title, a
first-round bye and earned the top seed for the championship. Binghamton is in search of its second consecutive America East championship and third in five years.
The Catamounts won three straight games to close out the season and earn the No. 2 seed and a first-round
bye. Vermont defeated Binghamton, 1-0, during that span.
The Terriers,
the 2004 champion, lost just once in their final eight games to earn the No. 3 seed. They will face sixth-seeded New Hampshire, which is seeking its first America East title.
The Hawks, the No. 4 seed, are making their first appearance in the championship since 2003. They will take on UMBC, which tied UNH on November 3 to secure a berth in the tournament.
