CAMBRIDGE, MASS.-- Binghamton University’s Cameron Keith (Aberdeenshire, Scotland/Aberdeenshire University) was named the America East Striker of the Year, while teammate Adam Chavez (Endicott, N.Y./Union-Endicott) was tabbed Defender of the Year and the Bearcats’ coaching staff earned Coaching Staff of the Year honors, as determined in a vote by the league’s head coaches. Neil Hlavtay (Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East) of Boston University and Matt Glaeser (Fredericksburg, Va./James Monroe/James Madison) of Hartford were selected Midfielder and Goalkeeper of the Year, respectively. Aaron O’Neal (Virginia Beach, Va./Kellam) from Boston University took home Rookie of the Year honors. Click here for PDF release.

Keith, who earned America East Player of the Week recognition three times (October 1, 8 and 22), led the conference in points (22), goals (10) and tied for first in game-winning goals (3). He helped the Bearcats go 13-5-0 overall and 5-3-0 in league play to earn their second straight regular-season title.

Chavez, a first-team All-America East choice last season, led a Bearcats defensive unit that allowed only 11 goals in 18 games and was tops in the conference in goals against average (0.60). He was named Co-Player of the Week on September 4 after earning all-tournament honors at the Pittsburgh Invitational.

Head coach Paul Marco leads a Binghamton coaching staff which garners Coach of the Year honors. Marco, who is in his sixth year at the helm, mentored the Bearcats to their second straight regular-season crown and the top seed for the America East Championship. The program’s 13 wins are its most ever at the Division I level. Marco is assisted by John Scott and Beau Brinsko.

Hlavtay, a first-team all-conference selection in 2006, tied for the league lead with six assists and was tied for fifth with 12 points. He was twice named Player of the Week, garnering accolades on September 24 and October 29.

Glaeser ranked third among league leaders with 4.33 saves per game and recorded six shutouts. A first-team all-conference selection, Glaeser helped lead the Hawks to their first America East Championship berth since 2003.

O’Neal was named Rookie of the Week on October 15 and 29. He was tied for second in the conference in points (16) and goals (6). He helped the Terriers earn the No. 3 seed for the Championship.

Keith is joined at forward on the all-conference first team by Boston University’s Shaun Taylor. Taylor tied for fourth in America East with five goals and tied for fifth with 12 points.

Hvlatay is joined in the midfield by Stony Brook’s Michael Palacio (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach), a three-time first-team all-conference selection. Binghamton’s Barry Neville (Glascow, Scotland/Mearns Castle), Hartford’s Daniel Antunez (Flint, Texas/Santa Ana) and Vermont’s Loren Hill (Eugene, Ore./Sheldon/Oregon State) round out the selections.

Chavez is joined in the first-team backfield by the Catamounts’ Connor Tobin (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins) and the Seawolves’ Yahaya Musa (Elmont, N.Y./Elmont Memorial), both of whom are repeat selections. Tobin earned second-team accolades last year, while Musa was a first-team selection in 2006, and a second-team choice in 2005.

The second-team forwards are Hartford’s Andreas Blamo (Monrovia, Liberia/Hall) and Vermont’s T.J. Gore (Macomb, Mich./Dakota), a first-team selection in 2006.

The second-team midfield consists of Binghamton’s Matt Narode (Glenmont, N.Y./Bethlehem Central), a repeat selection on the squad, Hartford’s Gary Muir (Glasgow, Scotland/Louisberg JC), Kevin Gnatiko (Montgomery Village, Md./Watkins Mill) and Bryan Moffa (Baltimore, Md./Eastern Tech) from UMBC, and Mahamadou Simpara (Bamako, Mali/Bryant & Stratton College) from Stony Brook.
