Who’s Back:
Brian Hodges was a second-team all-conference choice after averaging 14.7 ppg and 3.6 rpg. He enters the season as the active career scoring leader in America East with 1,080 points.
Jay Greene led America East in assists (5.3 apg) and was second in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.37). He averaged 9.0 ppg and tied for team lead with 56 three-pointers.
Who’s Gone:
Chris Pugh (8.9 ppg) was an America East all-defensive team choice.
Tom Young, who averaged 9.6 ppg and 4.7 rpg, did not return to school. Mike Housman averaged 9.6 ppg and 6.5 rpg.
Newcomers:
The Retrievers add five new players, including three transfers who sat out 2006-07.
Ray Barbosa scored 1,013 points in three seasons with the James Madison.
Cavell Johnson averaged 13.4 ppg and 7.9 rpg at James Madison as a junior in 2005-06.
Darryl Proctor scored 801 points (13.6 ppg) and grabbed 435 rebounds (7.4 rpg) in two seasons at Coppin State, including 2004-05 when he was the MEAC Rookie of the Year.
Notable:
UMBC and Vermont are the only teams to have won at least one game in the America East Championship in each of the previous three seasons.
