Who’s gone:

Bracey Barker was a force at the line last season, leading the nation in free-throw percentage (.920). She was also third in the conference in rebounding. This first-team all-conference honoree was tied for fourth in the conference in scoring.

Ashley Underwood was second-team all-conference in 2007. She was tied for fourth in conference in scoring as a 27-game starter, including all 16 conference starts.

Newcomers:

The Black Bears inked two forwards, a center and a guard during the offseason. Junior forward Whitney Morrow also joins Maine from University of Richmond and will be eligible to play beginning in January.

Notable:

Maine's all-time leading scorer, Cindy Blodgett ('98), enters her first season as the Black Bears' head coach. With 3,005 career points, Blodgett holds the America East scoring record. During her playing career at Maine, she led the Black Bears to four straight America East titles and broke 20 school records.

Blodgett inherits one of the youngest teams in the conference. The Black Bears list only one senior and two juniors on this year’s squad.
