STORRS, Conn.-- The University of Vermont (9-10-3) was ousted from the NCAA Men's Soccer Championship by the University of Connecticut (19-2-1) on Wednesday night. The Huskies, the tournament's No. 3 seed, downed the Catamounts, 2-0, in the second round contest to snap UVM's eight-game unbeaten streak and end the team's run.

Dori Arad gave UConn, the Big East champion, the early lead as he headed home a goal just 41 seconds into the contest. O'Brian White put the Huskies up 2-0 in the 55th minute when he chipped the ball into the left side of the net for his 20th tally of the season. Vermont registered just four shots to Connecticut's nine and could not produce a rally.

The Catamounts, who edged Dartmouth in penalty kicks on Saturday to advance to the second round for just the second time in their history, recovered from a 4-9 start to go 5-0-3 of their next eight outings. Vermont earned the second seed for the America East Conference Championship and upset top-seeded Binghamton, 1-0, on November 17 to earn its first trip to the NCAA Tournament in seven years.
