Maine Only Swimming and Diving Team to Compete Last Week

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--The America East Conference men's and women's swimming and diving teams did not compete this week, with the exception of the University of Maine which competed in an unscored meet against the Bowdoin Polar Bears. Therefore, there will be no Performers of the Week awarded this week, they will return December 4.

The University of Maine men's and women's swim teams competed in an unscored meet against the Bowdoin Polar Bears on Monday night. Sophomore Cully Wakelin (Biddeford, ME/Biddeford) led the Black Bears men's team winning the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:03.17 and taking home the 100 yard freestyle in a time of 48.84. Waklein was also a member of the 400 yard medley relay team that won first place in 3:50.42.

On the women's side, sophomore Kerstin Fenton (Dixon, Calif./Dixon) was the top performer for the lady Black Bears with a win in the 200 yard IM in a time of 2:14.06. She finished second in the 400 yard IM in 4:44.50, being edged by teammate Mackenzie Grobmyer (4:44.28). Fenton also anchored the 400 yard freestyle relay team that finished in second place, in 3:46.47.

Upcoming Events

Binghamton
The Bearcat swimming and diving teams return poolside on Saturday, December 1, when they take on Cornell in a dual meet beginning at 11 a.m.

Boston University
The Terriers will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 1 when it welcomes America East foe Stony Brook at 2:00 p.m.

Maine
The Black Bears will return to action November 30 when they head to the University of Rhode Island for the Rhode Island Invitational.

UMBC
The Retrievers are finished with competition for 2007 and will resume dual meet competition in the New Year, as they take on the Terrapins from Maryland on Thursday, Jan. 10 at 5:00 p.m. at the UMBC Natatorium.

New Hampshire
After a December hiatus, the Wildcats will travel to the Bahamas for winter training. During the camp, which will take place Jan. 4-12, the Wildcats will face North Dakota on Jan. 5.

Stony Brook
The Seawolves will be in action next on December 1st when they travel to Massachusetts to take on Boston University.

Vermont
Vermont is next in action on December 1-2 when the Catamounts travel to the Yale Invitational.
