BOSTON - Senior Pam Spuehler (Sudbury, Mass.) has been named one of four finalists for the 2007 Honda-Broderick Award for field hockey, as announced by the Collegiate Women Sports Awards. The three-time All-America midfielder becomes the first student-athlete at Boston University in any sport to be a nominee for the prestigious award.

Spuehler will be joined on the national ballot by North Carolina's Rachel Dawson, Penn State's Jennifer Long and Maryland's Katie O'Donnell. The winner will become a nominee for The Honda-Broderick Cup, awarded annually to the nation's outstanding collegiate woman athlete of the year.

This season, Spuehler helped the Terriers post a school-record 18 wins and reach the NCAA quarterfinals for the first time since 1991. She led the America East Conference in scoring with 37 points on 11 goals and 15 assists, and ranked eighth in the country in assists per game (0.63).

Spuehler completed her All-America progression this year, earning first-team honors after being named to the second team as a junior and the third team as a sophomore. She is the first Terrier in program history to be a three-time All-American and one of only six to be a first-team selection.

A three-time first-team all-region pick, Spuehler also became the first player in school history to collect America East All-Conference honors all four years. She helped the Terriers win three consecutive league titles (2005, 2006, 2007) and became the first player in conference history to be named the Most Outstanding Player of the America East Championship two times.

A former standout at Lincoln-Sudbury High School, Spuehler wrapped up her BU career ranked sixth on the school's all-time scoring list with 85 points (28g, 29a). She was part of an eight-member senior class that won a school-record 61 games during their four years with the Terrier program.

In addition to the honor of this selection, American Honda will donate $1,000 to BU's women's athletic fund. The winner's school will receive $5,000. Results of the voting will be announced on Monday, Dec. 3.
