Danielle Hood scored 19 points to lead Hartford to a 70-53 win over Virginia as the Hawks won the 29th annual Jack in the Box Rainbow Wahine Classic at Honolulu.
Hood, who averaged 21 points and 4.7 rebounds in the three games, was named tournament MVP. She was joined on the all-tournament team by sophomore Diana Delva (12.6 ppg, 8.7 rpg in tourney) and junior MaryLynne Schaefer (13.3 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 3.3 apg).
The Hawks defeated Alabama-Birmingham, 83-74 on Friday and host Hawaii, 76-63 on Saturday to earn the berth in the championship game.
Hartford is now 6-1 on the season with its lone loss a 76-72 decision in the season opener at Kansas. The Hawks return to action Saturday at Massachusetts before returning home to face St. John's on December 9.
