CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--The Stony Brook women's cross country coach and 2007 America East Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year, Andy Ronan, has been awarded the 2007 Northeast Region Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year Award.

The Seawolves qualified for the NCAA Championships for the first time in school history by finishing second at the Northeast Regional last Saturday. Two weeks earlier, Stony Brook won the America East Conference title, also for the first time.

The Stony Brook women's cross country team broke into the Division I women's poll in the final weeks of competition when they were announced at number 27 in the NCAA Division I women's cross country rankings on November 13.

Ronan is in his eighth season as the track and cross country coach at Stony Brook and has put together one of the most successful programs in Seawolves athletics during that time.
