2007 Women's Soccer Championship Kicks Off Thursday

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-- The 2007 America East Women's Soccer Championship begins on Thursday, November 1 with a pair of quarterfinal games at the home field of the higher seed.

The tournament gets started at 6 p.m. with No. 6 Binghamton at No. 3 Hartford. The second quarterfinal begins at 7 p.m. with No. 5 Maine traveling to No. 4 Stony Brook. The winner of the Binghamton-Hartford matchup will face No. 2 Boston University in the semifinals on Sunday, November 4 at 12 noon in Boston. The winner Maine-Stony Brook will take on top-seeded New Hampshire in the other semifinal on Sunday at 12 noon in Durham.

The championship game with take place on November 10 or 11 at the highest remaining seed. The Winner of the America East Championship earns an automatic berth to the NCAA Women's Soccer championship.

New Hampshire captured a share of the America East regular-season title, a first-round bye and earned the top seed for the championship. The Wildcats are in search of their first-ever America East championship, which the top seed has won each of the past 10 years

Boston University earned a share of the regular-season crown and a first-round bye. The Terriers and Wildcats played to a scoreless tie on October 25.

Hartford, the defending champion, gained the third seed after dropping just one contest in their final eight outings. They will face sixth-seeded Binghamton, which is seeking its second title in four years.

Stony Brook rode a 10-game unbeaten streak during the middle of the season to earn the No. 5 seed. They will take on No. 6 Maine, which defeated the Seawolves in the both team's regular-season finale on October 28.
