University's Christina Reuter (Madison, Wis./LaFollette) was named the
America East Women's Soccer Player of the Week after helping her team
capture a share the of the regular-season crown by recording two
shutouts last week. UMBC's Morgan Warrington (Magnolia Del./St. Thomas
Moore Prep) earned Rookie of the Week honors for the week ending

Reuter did not allow a goal in 193:44 minutes of action last week and recorded 12 saves. Reuter made four stopsto help the Terriers clinch a share of the America East regular-season title in a 2-0 shutout over Binghamton on Sunday. She made eight saves in a scoreless double-overtime tie against New Hampshire on Thursday.
Warrington scored a pair of goals and added an assist in three games last week. She scored the game-winner and had an assist in the Retriever’s 3-1 win over Albany on Sunday. Warrington also scored against Binghamton on Thursday.

Albany (4-10-3, 1-7-0 America East) dropped its final two America East Conference contests last week... The Great Danes fell 1-0 to Hartford on Oct. 25 at Varsity Field... Eight UAlbany seniors were recognized for their contributions to the program prior to the contest: Meghan Garrity (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown), Rachel Boles (Medford, N.J./Shawnee), Alicia Gibson (Belchertown, Mass./Belchertown), Uju Ogbuawa (Fort Washington, Md./Oxon Hill), Adrienne Heady (Stony Point, N.Y./North Rockland), Scovia Oraro (Nairobi, Kenya/Choate, Conn./Monroe C.C.), Jaclyn Schaaf (Fairport, N.Y./Minisink Valley), and Kaylin Connolly (West Sayville, N.Y./Sayville)... On Sunday, Oct. 28, the Great Danes dropped a 3-1 decision to UMBC... Junior Diana Barrera (Wheaton, Md./Albert-Einstein) scored her fourth goal of the season in the defeat...Barrera now has 11 points on four goals and three assists... Freshman Teresa Boring (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield) earned an assist, upping her team-high point total to 18 (8 goals, 2 assists)... Ogbuawa is currently tied for second all-time in assists in the UAlbany record books with seven going into her final collegiate game...She is tied for sixth in career points with 25... The Great Danes will conclude the 2007 campaign on Tuesday, Oct. 30 when they host a make-up contest with Delaware State at 2 p.m. at Varsity Field.
Binghamton (3-11-3, 2-5-1 America East) split two games during the week and claimed the No. 6 seed for the upcoming America East Championship. The Bearcats rolled to a 3-1 win over UMBC before losing at Boston University 2-0 in Sunday's regular season finale... The home win over the Retrievers was pivotal in securing the final playoff spot. Senior forward Danielle White (Haddon Township, N.J./Haddon Township) tallied two goals and an assist and on Senior Night, all of Binghamton's goals and assists were recorded by seniors. White bumped up her career goals total to 24, which ranks ninth best all-time... The Bearcats edged UMBC and Vermont by one point for sixth place - that point resulting from a 1-1 tie with fourth-place Stony Brook on October 18... Binghamton will now play No. 3 Hartford in a quarterfinal game on Thursday. The Hawks posted a 2-0 win in the Oct. 7 game in Vestal. The two teams have split six games since Binghamton joined the America East conference, but Hartford has won each of the last two by identical 2-0 scores... This is Binghamton's fourth straight trip to the postseason, where the Bearcats are undefeated in five America East tournament games (3-0-2). The program captured the 2004 AE title with two shutout wins and then posted an overtime victory in the 2005 quarterfinals. In its last two appearances, Binghamton has played to scoreless draws before being eliminated on penalty kicks.
Boston University (9-6-3, 6-1-1 America East) used a goal in each half to earn a share of the America East regular-season title and a No. 2 seed in the conference tournament with a 2-0 victory over Binghamton on Sunday afternoon at Nickerson Field... Sophomore Casey Brown (Natick, Mass./Natick) netted the game winner in the 34th minute, and junior Marisha Schumacher-Hodge (Pittsburgh, Pa./Schenley) scored off a restart in the 71st minute, as the Terriers improve to 9-6-3 overall and 6-1-1 in the America East... Brown netted the game-winning goal at 33:18 off a corner kick taken by Schumacher-Hodge... Brown one-timed it into the back of the net on a side volley... The Terriers have been dangerous all season long on the set pieces, this one was no exception as Brown picked up her fourth goal of the season and Schumacher-Hodge earned her sixth assist... Schumacher-Hodge sealed the victory for the Terriers with a goal of her own at 70:38 off a restart... Stepping up to take the free kick, she sent a perfectly placed shot into the upper corner, which Binghamton goalie Jen McEachron could not do anything about... Senior goalkeeper Christina Reuter (Madison, Wis./LaFollette) earned her fourth shutout of the season with a four-save effort... Reuter made a spectacular stop early in the second half that she was able to get a hand on and push off the cross bar and preserve the shutout... In a clash of the top two teams in the conference, BU and UNH battled through 110 minutes of scoreless action on Thursday afternoon in Durham, N.H.... Reuter made eight saves in net, including a leaping save in the waning minutes of regulation, to record her fourth shutout of the season.

Sophomore Becky Flowers (Santee, Calif./Santana) netted the game winner against Vermont, while senior Meagan Riemer (Ellington, Conn./Ellington/Sacred Heart) added an insurance goal in the 80th minute... Senior Elizabeth Cook (Halifax, Nova Scotia/Halifax Grammar) picked up shutouts in each contest last week, giving her a career-best eight on the season. She also has a career-best 0.68 goals against average and has allowed only two goals in her last 10 games... The Hawks secured the third seed in the America East Championship and will host sixth-seeded Binghamton on Thursday, November 1 in the first round. The winner will advance to the semifinals and play at second-seeded Boston University on Sunday, November 4 at 12 noon.

Maine clinched the No. 5 seed in the America East Women’s Soccer Playoffs and will face fourth-seeded Stony Brook this Thursday at 7 p.m., in Stony Brook, N.Y. ... Laura Harper (Nepean, Ontario/Mother Teresa H.S.) scored her fourth goal on the season at the 75:59 mark on a penalty kick to lift the Black Bears to a 1-0 win over Stony Brook on Sunday ... Goalkeeper Jasmine Phillips (Nepean, Ontario.Merivale H.S.) made four saves in the contest to post her sixth shutout of the season.
UMBC (3-13-2, 2-6-0 America East) concluded its season with a 1-2-0 week... The Retrievers dropped their final non-conference game, 4-0, at home to Pennsylvania on Oct. 23, then lost, 3-1, at America East rival Binghamton on Oct. 25, before winning the season finale, 3-1, at home against conference foe Albany on Oct. 28... Freshman defender Morgan Warrington (Magnolia, Del./St. Thomas Moore Prep) led the Retrievers with two goals and five points on the week... She scored the game-winner and added an assist against the Great Danes and tallied UMBC’s lone goal against the Bearcats... Junior goalie Catie Bukowski (Odenton, Md./Arundel/South Carolina) made a season-high eight saves against Penn... At Binghamton, Warrington got the Retrievers on the scoreboard in the 66th minute, scoring off a cross from sophomore forward Michelle Worrest (Germantown, Md./Northwest)... UMBC tied a season high with three goals against Albany... Freshman midfielder Caitlyn Slattery (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) scored her third goal of the season off a cross from Warrington in the sixth minute... Warrington found the back of the net herself when she took a long run up the left side and made a sliding shot in the 18th minute... Freshman defender Erin Johnson (Norristown, Pa./Methacton) added an insurance goal in the 85th minute, scoring off an assist from junior midfielder Kali Schwartz (Congers, N.Y./Clarkstown South) for her first career goal... Fourteen of UMBC’s 16 goals this season were scored by freshmen, led by forward Ashley Singer (Baltimore, Md./Kenwood) with a team-best four goals and eight points, and Warrington with three goals and seven points... Senior forward Jessica Young (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone) finishes her career ranked fifth all-time at UMBC with 24 career goals, sixth with 56 career points and 10th with eight assists.
New Hampshire (10-6-2, 6-1-1 Americast East) went 0-1-1 last week, grabbing a huge scoreless tie versus Boston University to clinch a share of the regular season title and losing on the road to tough non-conference opponent Yale, 2-1 ... The Wildcats ended up winning a share of the America East regular season title Sunday, as well as the No. 1 seed for the conference tournament ... Junior forward Michelle Sheehan (Belmont, Mass./Belmont) tallied the equalizer in the 55th minute versus Yale to give her a conference-high nine goals and 20 points ... Senior midfielder Marianne Rivard (West Kingston, R.I./LaSalle Academy) and last week’s America East Women’s Soccer Player of the Week, sophomore forward Shaunna Kaplan (Framingham, Mass.), each recorded an assist on Sheehan’s goal ... Sophomore goalkeeper Nikki Golding (Milton, Mass./Milton) made seven saves in the losing effort against Yale ... Junior midfielder Caitlin Whelan (Weymouth, Mass.) recorded a team season-high nine shots, including a team season-high five on goal against BU ... Sophomore goalkeeper Ally Yost (Langhorne, Pa.) made three saves against the Terriers to post her fourth shutout of the season.
Stony Brook (7-4-5, 4-2-2 America East) fell to Maine on Saturday afternoon 1-0 in their regular season finale and are now winless in three games since their 10 game unbeaten streak. The two teams played through a scoreless first half with Maine holding a 5-2 edge in shots. The Black Bears broke the deadlock though at the 75:59 mark when Laura Harper was fouled in the penalty area. Maine was awarded a penalty kick and Harper beat Viola with a shot to the lower right corner. Senior Jackie Timmes nearly tied in the final minute with a blast from 30 yards out but Maine keeper Jasmine Phillips made the stop to keep the Seawolves off the board. The Seawolves finished the regular season scoring just 12 goals, last in the league but allowed just 11 goals second best in the conference. Stony Brook led the conference with 10 shutouts, a program record.
Vermont (3-14-1, 1-6 America East) picked up its third win of the year with a 1-0 victory over Maine on “Senior Day” ... It was the first win for the Catamounts over the Black Bears since 2000 ... Sophomore Carson Laderoute (Rutland, Vt./Rutland) scored the game-winner in the 82nd minute ... She scored her team-leading 12 points in the final eight games of the season ... She finished the year tied for the team-lead in points (12) and goals (5) ... She is the third player in the program’s history to lead the team in scoring as a freshmen and sophomore and the sixth player to lead the team in scoring in back-to-back seasons ... Vermont closed out the 2007 campaign with a 2-0 loss at Hartford ... Freshmen Jessica Becker (Woodbridge, Conn./Amity Regional) handed out a team-high six assists on the season, the most by a freshmen in the program’s history and the sixth most in a single-season ... She finished her rookie season tied with Laderoute with 12 points (3-6?12) ... Sophomore goalkeeper Eliza Bradley (Charlotte, Vt./Champlain Valley Union) set a new single-season record for most minutes played (1640:00) ... She played every minute for the Catamounts in net this year ... Her 135 saves are the sixth most in a single-season ... Vermont finishes the year with a record of 3-14-1 overall and 2-6-0 in America East.
