Felce, Jesseman Cap Off Cross Country Performers of the Week

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--Stony Brook University's Alex Felce and University of New Hampshire's Erica Jesseman each finished first in their respective races during 2007's final weekend of competition before conference championships. Felce and Jesseman's stellar performances earned them America East Cross Country Men's and Women's Performers of the Week for the week ending October 22.

Felce (Stroud, England/Archway Comp.) led the Seawolves men's cross country team to a win on Saturday afternoon at the Central Connecticut Mini Meet with his first career victory. He finished the men's 5K race in 15:01, two seconds clear of the rest of the field. The team victory came in a nine-team field that included UConn, UNH, and Hartford.

Jesseman (Scarborough, Maine) finished in first place Saturday at the nine-team Central Connecticut State Mini Meet at Stanley Quarter Park. Jesseman finished the two-mile race in a time of 11 minutes, 31 seconds leading the Wildcats to an overall first-place finish.

Boston University
The Boston University Cross Country teams did not compete last week and will return to action at the America East Conference Championship on Saturday, Oct. 27 in Stony Brook, NY.

Hartford
The University of Hartford cross country teams competed in the final tune-up before the America East Championships, competing at the CCSU Mini Meet at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain on Saturday. The women’s team posted a sixth place finish out of nine teams, while the men finished seventh overall, out of nine teams. [Hartford Story]

Maine
The Maine Cross Country teams did not compete last week and will return to action at the America East Conference Championship on Saturday, Oct. 27 in Stony Brook, NY.

UMBC
The UMBC Cross Country teams did not compete last week and will return to action at the America East Conference Championship on Saturday, Oct. 27 in Stony Brook, NY.

New Hampshire
Freshmen Erica Jesseman (Scarborough, Maine) and Sydney Fitzpatrick (Billerica, Mass.) finished in first and second place, respectively, to lead the University of New Hampshire women’s cross country team to an overall first-place finish Saturday at the nine-team Central Connecticut State Mini Meet at Stanley Quarter Park. Stony Brook
