CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Binghamton University's Cameron Keith (Aberdeenshire, Scotland/Aberdeenshire University) was named the America East Player of the Week for the week ending October 21, while UMBC's Chris Williams became the second Retriever in three weeks to earn America East Rookie of the Week honors. Keith recorded his second hat trick of the season as the Bearcats defeated Maine 5-0 on Saturday to improve to 3-1 in America East Conference play. Keith has a conference-best nine goals and 19 points for the season.
Williams scored the game-winning goal in the Retrievers’ 2-0 victory over Albany on Saturday. He was part of a back line that did not allow a score in 200 minutes of play and recorded a pair of shutouts last week.

Albany (2-8-3, 1-1-2 America East) went 0-1-1 in two games last week... The Great Danes tied Boston U., 1-1, in double overtime on Wednesday, Oct. 17... The draw extended UAlbany’s unbeaten streak to three, the longest of the season... Junior defender Erik DiLorenzo (Bolton, Ontario/Robert F. Hall CSS) put UAlbany up 1-0 in the 69th minute with a header off a corner kick by Mikael-Taylor McNamara (Mississauga, Ontario/Iona Secondary)... The Terriers headed in a corner kick of their own three minutes later to force the tie... Junior goalkeeper Steward Ceus (West Haverstraw, N.Y./North Rockland) registered four saves in the match for the Great Danes... UAlbany was outshot by Boston U. 17-10 in the contest, but held a 5-1 edge in the overtime periods... On Saturday, Oct. 20, the Great Danes had their unbeaten streak snapped at three with a 2-0 loss at UMBC... The Retrievers scored off a corner kick in the 22nd minute and were the beneficiary of an own goal by the Great Danes in the 62nd minute to register the victory... UAlbany returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at Stony Brook at 7 p.m. and travels to Binghamton on Saturday, Oct. 27 for a 7 p.m. start.
Binghamton (11-3-0, 3-1-0 America East) has won six out of its past seven games ... Sophomore forward Cameron Keith (Aberdeenshire, Scotland/Aberdeen Univ.) recorded his second hat trick of the season as the Bearcats defeated Maine 5-0 on Saturday... Keith now has a conference-best nine goals and 19 total points. He has turned in three multiple-goal games and in four conference contests, scoring six goals. Keith is one goal away from becoming the first Bearcat player to reach the 10-goal mark since Charles Darkwah scored a conference-best 12 times in 2004 ... The five goals scored by the Bearcats represents its highest output since their 6-0 win over Philadelphia College on Sept. 27, 2007. In addition, Binghamton scored its first three goals in a span of 1:37, the quickest such spurt in its Division I history ... The Bearcats have reached the 11-win mark for the fourth time in the past five years.
Boston University (8-5-1, 2-1-1 America East) recorded a win and a tie last week, playing to a 1-1 double overtime draw with Albany on Wed., Oct. 17 and defeating Stony Brook, 2-1, on Sat., Oct. 20... In the tie with Albany senior co-captain and defender Derek Puerta (Pawtucket, R.I./William E. Tulman) scored in the 71st minute after junior Neil Hlavaty (Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East) lofted a corner kick into the box. Puerta's goal answered an Albany tally just three minutes prior when Erik DiLorenzo put a header in from the top of the box... Against Stony Brook, the teams played a scoreless first half, but Boston U struck twice in the opening five minutes ? with goals from sophomore Samuel Appiah (Obuasi, Ghana/Univ. of Ghana) and sophomore Shaun Taylor (Sandown, England/Sandown) that stood up the rest of the way despite an SBU goal with 22 seconds left... The Terriers travel to Hartford on Wed., Oct. 24 to play the Hawks at 6 p.m. before hosting UMBC on Sat., Oct. 27 at 1 p.m.
Hartford (6-4-3 overall, 1-1-2 America East) was winless in two games last week, the first a 2-1 loss at Maine, the second a 0-0 draw against Vermont... The Hawks opened the week with the loss at Maine... All the scoring against the Black Bears took place within the first 22 minutes of the game with the Hawks allowing an own goal in the third minute, a mistake that would prove costly... Hartford’s only goal came from Oswald Adu (Toronto, Ontario/C.W.Jefferys/Nyack College) off an assist by Gary Muir (Glasgow, Scotland/Louisburg) in the 14th minute... The Hawks finished the game with a 15-10 advantage in shots, forcing Black Bears keeper Nemanja Kostic to make five saves. Hawks keeper Matt Glaeser (Fredericksburg, Va./James Monroe/James Madison) finished the game with four saves... Against Vermont the Hawks again out shot their opponent, this time by a 12-9 margin, forcing Roger Scully to make four saves for the Catamounts. Glaeser finished the Vermont game with six saves for Hartford... For the season, the Hawks are led by Andreas Blamo (Monrovia, Liberia/Hall/Manchester CC) who has 11 points on four goals and three assists... Muir is second on the team with three goals and three assists, while Kevin Hall (Portland, Ore/Lake Oswego) rounds out the leading scorers with three goals and an assist.
Maine (3-10-1, 1-3-1 America East) split a pair of games on the week... Maine defeated Hartford 2-1 on Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Field in Orono, before dropping a 5-0 decision at Binghamton on Saturday night in Vestal, N.Y... Junior Dimitri Anastasiou (Colchester, Conn./Bacon Academy) scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season on Wednesday against Hartford... The goal, which turned out to be the game-winner, was the second game-winning goal of the season for Anastasiou... Maine's win over Hartford marked the 100th career win for Maine head coach Pat Laughlin, who is in his first season with the Black Bears... Ten different Black Bears have tallied a point this season, three more than scored point for Maine during the 2006 campaign... Jordan Antonucci (Gloversville, N.Y./Gloversville HS) picked up his first career point when he assisted on the goal by Anastasiou... Maine, which is 3-0-1 at home on the season, hosts Vermont on Wednesday afternoon, before playing host to Stony Brook on Saturday afternoon... Before the game on Saturday, Maine will honor its seniors.
New Hampshire (4-4-5, 1-1-2 America East) scored just 16 seconds into the second overtime period to earn its first conference win of the season... Junior A.J. DuBois (Acworrth, N.H./Fall Moutain Regional) notched his second goal of the season to lift the Wildcats past Stony Brook in the lone game of the week ... Sophomore Patrick Gay (North Stonington, Conn./Wheeler), who made his first appearance for the Wildcats this season, earned an assist on the play ... Sophomore Joe Anesse (Attleboro, Mass./Attleboro) tallied his second assist of the season on the goal ... Senior goalkeeper Mike Jenne (Vernon, N.Y./Whitesboro Central) turned away five shots to earn his sixth shutout of the season for the Wildcats, ranking him third in America East ... Jenne now ranks third in the league in goals against average (.90) and save percentage (.784) ... The Wildcats return to action next week, when they host Binghamton on Wednesday, Oct. 24.
Stony Brook (7-6-2, 1-3-1 America East) lost of both of its games last week... In the 1-0 double overtime loss to New Hampshire, Dawid Ditrich (Gdansk, Poland/Academy of Physical Education & Sport) made three saves but allowed a goal just 16 minutes into the second overtime to give the Wildcats the win... Mahamadou Simpara (Bamako, Mali/Bryant & Stratton) took a game-high six shots in the loss. In Stony Brook’s 2-1 loss to Boston University, Diego Acero (Greenport, N.Y.) came off the bench to score his first goal of the season, in the 89th minute, to give the Seawolves a brief chance at a comeback... Michael Palacio (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach) took a game-high seven shots. Stony Brook faces in-state rival Albany on Wednesday evening and Maine on Saturday afternoon at 12 p.m.
UMBC (7-4-3, 3-1-1 America East) freshman fullback Chris Williams (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall) scored his first career goal in the 22nd minute and the Retriever defense throttled a dangerous Albany squad as UMBC blanked the Great Danes, 2-0 before a Homecoming Day crowd of 1,152 at UMBC Soccer Stadium...UMBC maintained its first-place position in the America East race as they improved to 7-4-3 overall and 3-1-1 in league play... The Retrievers are now 4-1-1 in their last six games and improved to 4-1-2 at home in 2007... Williams has been very steady as a freshman defender, but he added a critical score midway through the first half... Senior midfielder Bryan Moffa (Baltimore, Md./Eastern Tech) directed his corner kick toward the near right post, where the 6-foot-3 Williams skimmed his header beyond Albany netminder Steward Ceus and inside the far left post... the Retrievers scored the insurance goal in the 62nd minute as Moffa’s serve into the box off another corner kick was inadvertently redirected by an Albany player in his own goal... UMBC outshot their guests, 16-8 and tied the all-time series with the Great Danes at 2-2-1... The Retrievers posted their ninth shutout of the season and have allowed only one goal in the past six games...UMBC has not allowed a first half goal in the last eight games... Earlier in the week, the Retrievers picked up a critical road point in a 0-0 overtime draw at Vermont... junior goalkeeper Steve King (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) entered the week 21st in the nation in goals against average and 20th in save percentage and certainly improved upon those standings with no goals allowed and seven saves last week... the Retrievers are now 13-2-4 at home in five years of America East Conference play... UMBC plays its final non-conference game of the season when they visit Howard on Tuesday evening... That begins a three-game road swing as the Retrievers meet Boston University in Boston, Mass. next Saturday.
Vermont (4-9-2, America East 1-2-2) picked up two points in the league standings with a pair of scoreless draws last week against two of the America East’s top teams, at home against UMBC Wednesday and at Hartford Saturday ... Vermont has just three games remaining and is one of four schools tied for fourth with five points in the crowded America East standings ... The ties last week were UVM’s first of the season and the Cats now have a 1-4-2 mark in overtime games ... Junior goalkeeper Roger Scully (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme) helped lead the sturdy UVM defense last week recording his third and fourth shutouts of the season ... Scully has allowed just one goal in his last 376 minutes over four games and now has a 0.81 goals against average to rank among the America East leaders. ... The Catamounts this week play just one match traveling to Maine Wednesday (3:00pm) in their last road game of the regular season.
