Edgerton, Parker and Huet Named Performers of the Week

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--University of New Hampshire's Robert Edgerton (Cornish, N.H./Windsor) receives weekly honors as America East Cross Country Men's Performer of the Week. Fellow Wildcat Cathy Parker (Westford, Mass.) and Stony Brook University's Laura Huet (Carrickmines, Ireland/Institute of Education) contributed strong performances earning them Women's Co-Performers of the Week for the week ending October 1.

Edgerton finished in second-place to lead the Wildcats to a first-place finish at the nine-team Murray Keatinge Invitational at the University of Maine on Sept. 29. Edgerton finished the five-mile run in a time of 25:06.60, just nine seconds off the pace of the top finisher.

Parker's third-place finish helped the Wildcats to a third-place showing at the nine-team Murray Keatinge Invitational at the University of Maine on Sept. 29. Parker completed the 5K course in a time of 17:19.30, just four seconds behind the runner-up. She competed amongst top ranking runners such as 17th place nationally ranked Duke.

Huet finished 25th out of 347 runners on Friday afternoon as she led the women's team to a fifth-place finish (out of 47 teams) at the Paul Short Invitational. The Seawolves are now ranked third in the Northeast Region. She finished the 6K race in 21:21.

Albany
The UAlbany women's squad placed fifth out of eight schools at the Mason Invitational hosted by George Mason University at Bull Run Regional Park in Manassas, Va. on Saturday, Sept. 29 with a team score of 128. The UAlbany men's team finished fourth out of nine schools at the event with a score of 160. [Albany Story]

Binghamton
Freshmen Gerald McDonald (Pleasantville, N.Y.) and Ashley Horton (Candor, N.Y.) highlighted the Binghamton Cross Country teams' performance at the Lehigh Paul Short Run on Friday afternoon. The men placed 24th out of 41 teams while the women were 22nd out of 47 teams. [Binghamton Story]

Boston University
BU's next race will be the New England Championships at Franklin Park on Oct. 6.

Hartford
Hartford's next run will be the New England Championships on October 6 in Boston, Massachusetts.

Maine
The University of Maine men's and women's cross country teams finished fourth and sixth, respectively, Saturday at the 2007 Murray Keatinge Invitational at the Maine Cross Country Course on the Orono campus. [Maine Story]

The men’s and women’s cross country teams finished competition at the Lehigh Paul Short Invitational on Saturday, finishing in 33rd and 43rd place with 829 and 1152 total places, respectively. [UMBC Story]

New Hampshire

The University of New Hampshire men’s cross country team beat out eight other squads to grab first place at the 16th Annual Murray Keatinge Invitational at the University of Maine. The Wildcats scored 94 points, six better than runner-up Dartmouth College and 32 more than third-place Yale University. [New Hampshire Men Story]

University of New Hampshire women’s cross country team finished third-place in the nine-team Murray Keatinge Invitational. The Wildcats scored 163 points to finish behind Yale University (126) and Duke University (57). [New Hampshire Women Story]

Stony Brook
Coming off an impressive fifth-place finish at the Paul Short Invitational on Friday, the Stony Brook women's cross country team moved up eight spots to third in the Northeast Region in the latest USTFCCA poll released on Monday. The Seawolves finished fifth out of 47 teams on Friday, ahead of 28th place nationally ranked Tennessee, as well as Cornell and Syracuse who are ranked 3rd and 8th in the region, respectively, entering the meet. Vermont
The Vermont men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at both the Murray Keatinge Invitational at the University of Maine and the Vermont State Meet at Lyndon State College on Saturday. Overall, the Lady Catamounts finished seventh out of nine teams. The men’s team finished eighth out of nine teams. [Vermont Story]
