Men's Soccer: UMBC Hands Albany First Conference Loss

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-- UMBC moved into first place in America East with a 2-0 win over Albany Saturday.

Chris Williams' goal in the 22nd minute was the game-winner for the Retrievers (7-4-3 overall, 3-1-1 America East). Bryan Moffa, who assisted on the goal by Williams, added an insurance goal in the 62nd minute. Steward Ceus made eight saves for the Great Danes (2-8-3, 1-1-2), who lost for the first time in conference play.

Saturday night, Binghamton (11-3-0, 3-1-0) easily defeated Maine (3-10-1, 1-3-1) by a 5-0 score. Sophomore forward Cameron Keith led the Bearcats with his second hat trick of the season. Keith now has nine goals on the season.

Samuel Appiah and Shaun Taylor scored goals 1:08 apart early in the second half as Boston University (8-5-1, 2-1-1) held on for a 2-1 win over Stony Brook (7-6-2, 1-3-1) at Boston earlier on Saturday.

Hartford (6-4-3, 1-1-2) and Vermont (4-9-2, 1-2-2) played to a scoreless draw at West Hartford.

On Wednesday, A.J. Dubois scored 16 seconds into the second overtime as New Hampshire (4-4-5, 1-1-2) defeated Stony Brook, 1-0 at Durham.

Dimitri Anastasiou's goal in the 21st minute broke a 1-1 tie and Maine (3-9-1, 1-2-1) held on for a 2-1 win over Hartford (6-4-2, 1-1-1) at Orono.

Erik DiLorenzo scored in the 69th minute as Albany remained the only team without a conference loss with a 1-1 draw with Boston University. Derek Puerta scored the Terriers' goal.

Steve King made five saves as UMBC and Vermont (4-9-1, 1-2-1) played to a 0-0 draw. Roger Scully had one save for the host Catamounts.
