Women's Soccer: Boston U. Improves to 4-0-0 in America East

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-- Boston University improved to 4-0-0 in America East play on Sunday. Stony Brook remained atop the standings (the Seawolves have played one more game than the Terriers) with 13 points (4-0-1) with its win. New Hampshire improved to 4-1-0. Maine and Hartford, which met for the America East Championship a year ago, played to a 1-1 draw.

Boston University (7-5-2 overall, 4-0-0 in America East) got goals from Marisha Schumacher-Hodge and Stephanie Croghan in the first 16 minutes of the game in a 2-0 win over UMBC (1-11-2, 0-5-0).

Trine Allenberg scored in the 86th minute and Marisa Viola extended her shutout streak to 814:38 as Stony Brook (7-2-4, 4-0-1) defeated Albany (4-7-3, 1-4-0), 1-0.

New Hampshire (8-5-1, 4-1-0) kept pace with the leaders with a 2-1 win at Vermont (1-12-1, 0-4-0). Caitlyn Serafine had a goal and an assist.

Maine (4-5-3, 2-1-1) and Hartford (4-5-4, 2-0-2) played to a 1-1 draw at West Hartford. Meagan Riemer tied the game in the 61st minute. Maine had scored on an own goal in the 17th minute.

On Thursday, Stony Brook took over the top spot in the standings with a 1-0 win over New Hampshire. Aria Tanzi scored in the 32nd minute and Viola extended her shutout streak to 734:38.

Boston University, which has played one fewer game than Stony Brook, kept pace with a 3-1 win at Maine. Shannon Mullen's goal in the 65th minute broke a 1-1 tie.

Hartford got a goal from Kacey Busque in the 80th minute and Elizabeth Cook extended her shutout streak to 488 minutes as the Hawks won 1-0 at UMBC.

Teresa Boring scored her eighth goal of the season as Albany defeated Binghamton (2-9-2, 1-3-0), 3-1. The win broke the Great Danes' 11-game losing streak to the Bearcats.
