Albany's Pat Weider (Fairport. N.Y./Fairport) and Jessica Ortman (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville) have been named America East Men’s and Women’s Track Performers of the Week, respectively, while UMBC's Rob Ludwig (Columbia, Md./Mount St. Joseph's) and Albany's Brenna Militello (Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chili) earn Men’s and Women's Field Performers of the week, respectively. The awards were announced Tuesday (January 9).
Weider won the 400-meter dash in a time of 49.80 seconds and was a member of the first-place 4x400 relay team (3:23.60). The Great Danes' men's squad took second place overall at Army's Carleton Crowell Open. Previously, he qualified for this season's IC4A meet by running the 200-meters in 22:14 at December's Yale Season Opener.
Ortman won the 1000-meters in 2:53.93, qualifying for the ECAC meet and leading the UAlbany women to a first-place finish at the Carleton Crowell Open. She was a member of the 4x400 relay team that won the race in 3:54.50. At the Yale Season Opener in December, Ortman also qualified for ECAC's in the 800-meters.
Ludwig won the pole vault for the second straight competition this past weekend at the George Mason Father Diamond Invitational. He achieved a mark of 4.65m, the identical mark as his last win at the Bucknell Bison Opener in December.
Militello won the high jump with a career-high leap of 5'3.75" at the Carleton Crowell Open.
