Thursday, January 18
*Maine 69, at Vermont 64
The Black Bears handed the Catamounts their first league loss of the season, snapping UVM's seven-game unbeaten streak in the process... After starting the conference slate 0-4, Maine has now reeled off three-straight wins and is the league's hottest squad.
*at UMBC 73, Hartford 68
The Retrievers snapped a three-game conference skid with a five-point victory over the visiting Hawks.... UMBC, Hartford and New Hampshire are now tied for fourth in the league standings with identical 3-3 records... Brian Hodges, the nation's highest scoring sixth man, got the start for UMBC and poured in a game-high 20 points.
*New Hampshire 75, at Binghamton 72
The Wildcats boasted four players in double-figures, including a team-high 18 points from Blagoj Janev, to record a crucial road win at Binghamton... UNH trailed 36-30 at the break, but outscored the Bearcats 45-36 in the second half to record the victory... Binghamton was led by Mike Gordon's game-high 20 points.
*at Stony Brook 68, Boston U. 62 (OT)
Boston University had its three-game conference win streak snapped as the Terriers lost their fourth overtime game of the season... Stony Brook netted scored 28 points in the first half and just 21 in the second half before pouring in 19 in the five-minute overtime session... The Seawolves forced the Terriers into 20 turnovers... Boston U.'s Corey Lowe led all scorers with 20 points, while Mitchell Beauford netted 18 to lead SBU.
Tuesday, January 16
*at Maine 70, UMBC 56
The Black Bears shot 51.9 percent from the floor and 52.6 percent from beyond the arc to down the Retrievers... After dropping its first four conference games, Maine has now won back-to-back league games for the first time this season... Kevin Read led the way for the Black Bears with 18 points, while Jon Sheets chipped in with 17 on 5-of-8 shooting from three... Brian Hodges came off the bench to pour in a game-high 26 points for UMBC.
New Hampshire 65, at Dartmouth 61
The Wildcats closed out the non-conference portion of their regular-season slate with a victory over in-state foe Dartmouth... America East improves to 11-6 versus Ivy League foes on the 2006-07 season... Jermaine Anderson (21 points) and Blagoj Janev (15) came off the bench to lead UNH in scoring.
Monday, January 15
*Binghamton 57, at Hartford 55
Nearly one year to the day after Mike Gordon converted a last-second layup to give the Bearcats a 57-55 victory at Hartford on January 19, 2006, the junior did the same exact feat with one-tenth of a second remaining to give Binghamton another 57-55 win on the Hawks home court... Richard Forbes paced the Bearcats with a team-high 12 points, while Hartford was led by 16 points apiece from Jaret Von Rosenberg and Joe Zeglinski... Bo Taylor had his 10-game double-digit scoring streak snapped for the Hawks as he netted eight points.
*at Albany 66, Stony Brook 61
Jon Iati came off the bench to score a game-high 20 points to lead the Great Danes to a five-point victory over Empire State rival Stony Brook... Reigning America East Player of the Year and the Player of the Week Jamar Wilson scored just eight points, all coming from the free throw line, as he went 0-for-7 from the field with six turnovers in 35 minutes of action... Ricky Lucas led the Seawolves with 17 points.
UPCOMING ACTION
Sunday, January 21
*UMBC at Boston U., 1 p.m.
The Terriers look to give themselves a little breathing room from the log-jam in the middle of the league standings as they host the Retrievers... The two split their regular-season series in 2005-06 with the home team winning in both contents... The long ball could go a long way in deciding this affair as the Terriers rank second in the league in three-point shooting (36.3 percent) and the Retrievers are last in the conference in three-point field goald percentage defense (40.8 percent).
*Stony Brook at New Hampshire, 1 p.m.
The Wildcats hope to extend their recent surge to three games as theywelcome the Seawolves to Lundholm Gym... UNH swept the regular-season series over Stony Brook a season ago, winning by an average of just 6.0 ppg.
*Vermont at Binghamton, 1 p.m.
The Catamounts try to bounce back from their first loss of the season as they head to Binghamton... Last season, the Bearcats defeated UVM in both regular-season affairs, but Vermont knocked off Binghamton in the semifinals of the America East Championship at the Events Center.
*Hartford at Albany, 2 p.m. (TW3)
The Great Danes welcome the Hawks to SEFCU Arena for a television game featured on Time Warner Cable in Albany... After winning its first two league games this season, Hartford has lost three of its last four conference outings to even out at 3-3.
