America East Conference has unveiled a trio of new championship logos for the 2006-07 season. Marks for the 2007 America East Men’s Basketball Championship and the 2007 America East Women’s Basketball Championship, along with a logo for the league’s other 20 championships, were revealed on Thursday.
By partnering with Duffy & Shanley, an all-encompassing marketing and design firm based in Providence, R.I., America East was able to establish a uniform design on all three logos, while still enabling the men’s and women’s basketball marks to maintain a unique look. The conference’s primary logo was carried throughout the design concept as the America East “star” is present in all three marks.
The official conference colors – America East Red (Pantone 192) and America East Blue (Pantone Reflex Blue) – were also brought forward in the new logos, while America East Orange (Pantone 158) was introduced on the men’s and women’s basketball marks.
The men’s basketball logo highlights “Boston ‘07” as Boston University’s Agganis Arena will play host to the conference’s nine-team, three-day tournament on March 2-4. Binghamton University’s Events Center is the home of the women’s basketball tournament – a nine-team, four-day event on March 8-11 – which is presented as “Binghamton ‘07”. The host city of Binghamton, N.Y. is furthered honored with a carousel horse as it is known as the Carousel Capital of the World.
