University at Albany's Ricardo Estremera (San Juan, Puerto Rico) and University of New Hampshire's Catherine Parker (Westford, Mass.) have been named the America East Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Performers of the Week, respectively. The awards were announced Wednesday (September 6).
Estremera took first at the six-team Monmouth University Cross Country Kickoff held at Thompson Park in New Jersey. He finished with a time of 19:03, over 16.5 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. Estremera's finish helped lead Albany to a team victory at the meet.
Parker raced to a first-place finish in the 5K race versus Providence College. In the season opener, the junior equaled the third-fastest time ever on the UNH College Woods course (17:35).
