Emery, Koch Earn First Weekly Field Hockey Awards of 2006

Maine's Nicole Emery (Winthrop, Maine/Winthrop) has garnered the first America East Player of the Week honors of the 2006 field hockey campaign, while Albany's Teska Koch (Hilversum, Netherlands/’t Sint Vituscollege, Bussum) has earned America East Rookie of the Week accolades.

Emery has had a hot start to the season as she leads the Black Bears in scoring with five goals and one assist for 11 points. She has currently scored a goal in four-straight games. Emery netted both of Maine's goals versus Missouri State and also scored a goal and added an assist in Maine’s 4-3 loss at Northwestern.

Koch, who has started all four games in her rookie campaign, is tied for second on the team with five points on two goals and an assist. She recorded her first career goal in the Great Danes’ 2-0 win over Kent State and added her second, along with her first assist, in an 8-2 win over Colgate.
