BOSTON — The complete 2006-07 America East women’s basketball schedule has been released. The 72-game conference slate tips off on Thursday, January 4.
Complete Conference Composite Schedule
The first night of conference play will feature a match up of the league’s two postseason tournament teams from a season ago, Hartford and Stony Brook. The two-time defending America East Champion Hawks, who became just the second team in league history to win an NCAA tournament game when they upset sixth-seeded Temple 64-58, will travel to Stony Brook on January 4. The Seawolves, who represented the league in the WNIT, handed Hartford its lone America East loss was back on February 22 at Stony Brook University Arena. Stony Brook will return to Hartford exactly one month later on Sunday, February 4.
In week two of conference play, Boston University will head to Stony Brook on January 10 in a rematch of last year’s first semifinal game. The third-seeded Terriers came away with a 76-74 overtime win knocking out the second-seeded Seawolves. The two teams will square off again on February 10 in Boston.
On January 31, Hartford will travel to Boston University in a rematch of the last two America East Championship games. In last year's final Hartford won 75-56 in the friendly confines of Chase Arena at Reich Family Pavillion. The Hawks will look to use that home-court advantage when the two meet for a second time on February 21.
On the final day of the regular season, New Hampshire will travel to Binghamton and Maine will head to Stony Brook in games that could have major post-season ramifications.
All nine teams will fight all season for seeding in the 2007 America East Women’s Basketball Championship taking place on March 8-11. For the first time in league history, the tournament will be held at the Events Center on the campus of Binghamton University. The Events Center hosted the men’s championships in each of the past two seasons.
