Albany's Michelle Simpson (Middlesbrough, England/Univ. of Teesside) earns America East Player of the Week accolades in field hockey for the second-consecutive week, while Boston University's Gabby Hajjar (Ottawa Hills, Ohio/Ottawa Hills) has garnered America East Rookie of the Week honors for the first time in her collegiate field hockey career. The awards were announced Monday (September 18).

Simpson scored two goals and added an assist in two games last week to lead UAlbany to its third and fourth consecutive wins. Simpson recorded her ninth goal and sixth assist of the season in the Great Danes’ 3-2 win over Delaware on Friday and scored her tenth goal in a 2-0 shutout of Rutgers on Sunday on a penalty stroke. She now leads UAlbany with 10 goals and is third on the team with six assists for a team-best 26 total points.

Hajjar entered the starting lineup for the first time in her career and made immediate contributions, including the game-winning goal in a 2-0 shutout victory over UMass. The forward tallied her first career goal in the sixth minute when she redirected an offering from junior Hayley Hamada just outside the goal.
