Albany's Michelle Simpson (Middlesbrough, England/Univ. of Teesside) earns America East Player of the Week accolades for field hockey, while teammate Jess Lindsey (Norristown, Pa./Methacton) has been tabbed America East Rookie of the Week for the first time in her career. The awards were announced on Monday (September 11).

Simpson scored five goals and added an assist in two games last week. In the Great Danes’ 6-0 shutout of crosstown-rival Siena on Wednesday, she scored two unassisted tallies and recorded an assist on a penalty corner goal. In a non-conference tilt against Saint Francis (Pa.) on Friday, Simpson notched her second hat trick of the season, scoring three straight goals for UAlbany, which recorded its second consecutive shutout. Simpson now has a team-best eight goals and five assists for 21 total points.

Lindsey, who has started all six games of her rookie campaign, is tied for third on the team with eight points after recording five assists and one goal last week. Lindsey assisted on two goals during the Great Danes’ 6-0 shutout of crosstown-rival Siena on Wednesday before recording her first collegiate goal to go along with three assists in an 8-0 blanking of Saint Francis (Pa.) on Friday.
