Boston U.’s Jenny Hauser (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes) has been name the America East Player of the week for the final week of women’s lacrosse action. UMBC’s Susie Sweeney (Madison, N.J./Madison) is the America East Defender of the Week, while Stony Brook’s Kaitlin Leggio (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) earns Rookie of the week honors. The accolades were announced Monday (May 1).

Hauser helped the Terriers clinch a share of the America East regular-season title with her third nine-point performance of the season. The sophomore tallied four goals and added a career-high five assists in Boston U.’s 20-5 home triumph over New Hampshire on Saturday. She broke the school’s single-season points record of 86 and tied the program mark for goals in a season with 62. Hauser added three ground balls against the Wildcats and recorded a goal and a caused turnover earlier in the week in a road loss at Dartmouth.

Sweeney recorded nine saves and allowed only seven goals for a .562 save percentage in the Retrievers’ 18-7 victory over Binghamton on Saturday that clinched UMBC’s first-ever regular season America East championship. Sweeney also picked up six ground balls and caused one turnover in the win.

Leggio fueled the Seawolves offense once again last week as the freshman tallied 10 points on eight goals and two assists to go with seven ground balls in a 1-1 week for Stony Brook. She began the week with a goal and two assists to go with five ground balls, two draw controls and two caused turnovers in a loss to No. 17 Hofstra before setting the Stony Brook single-game record with seven goals, including the game-winner, versus Vermont in the Seawolves regular season finale.
