UMBC’s Brendan Mundorf (Baltimore, Md/Mt. St. Joseph) and Stony Brook’s Bo Tripodi (Hauppauge, N.Y./Hauppauge) share this week’s America East Player of the Week honors, while UMBC’s Jeremy Blevins (Cockeysville, Md./Calvert Hall) is the Rookie of the Week. The accolades were announced Monday (April 3).
Mundorf snapped a two-game streak without a goal by scoring three and adding an assist in UMBC’s 10-9 win over Albany. He scored twice in a 4-0 run which put UMBC ahead to stay in the second quarter. Mundorf becomes the 11th player to score 90 goals in school history and his 154 points is eighth on the Retriever all-time scoring list.
Tripodi scored five goals in a 1-1 week for Stony Brook. He scored four times and added an assist to lead the Seawolves to an 11-5 win in the America East opener against Vermont on Saturday. It was his third hat trick of the season.
Blevins made five of his nine saves in the fourth quarter as UMBC held
off the potent Albany Great Danes, 10-9. Blevins made a save from point blank range with less than two minutes to play to preserve a one-goal lead by the Retrievers.
