UMBC’s Terry Kimener (Oakton, Va./Oakton) and Stony Brook’s Jason Cappadoro (Levittown, N.Y./MacArthur) are the America East Players of the Week for Men’s Lacrosse. Albany’s Corey Small (St. Catherines, Ontario/Holy Cross) is the America East Rookie of the Week. All accolades were announced Monday (April 24).
Kimener stepped to the forefront with a four-goal effort in UMBC’s 10-6 win at Vermont on Saturday. Kimener scored three of UMBC’s five first half goals and posted an insurance marker to seal the win, the four goals are a career high and the four points ties a career best. After producing seven points in his freshman year, he has amassed 14 goals and 13 assists this season, while also playing outstanding defense.
Cappadoro had a goal and five assists to help Stony Brook to a 9-8 comeback win over Binghamton on Saturday and extend Stony Brook’s winning streak to six. His five assists equaled a single-game career high and gave him 99 for his career.
Small tied a career-high with three goals against No. 9 Syracuse, scoring three consecutive times, including a pair of man-up goals, in a three-minute-and-42-second span of the fourth quarter. Small was part of a six-goal run that erased a 13-7 deficit with 2:17 remaining in the contest. It was Small’s third multiple-goal game of the season and he is currently fourth on team in scoring with 19 points.
