Binghamton's Brendon Hitchcock (Laceyville, Pa./Wyalusing Valley) has been named America East's baseball Player of the Week, while Joe Serafin (Tariffville, Conn./Simsbury) of Vermont earns Pitcher of the Week accolades. Maine's Kevin McAvoy (Brewer, Maine/Brewer) garners his third-straight Rookie of the Week award and fifth of the 2006 campaign. The honors were announced on Monday (April 16).

Hitchcock had a .944 slugging percentage during the week. In the three-game set against UMBC, the junior first baseman was 7-for-10 with five RBI.

Serafin hurled a three-hit complete game shutout at Hartford on Saturday walking just two and striking out nine. The sophomore retired 16 of the last 18 hitters he faced. All three hits were singles and just one runner reached third and only two runners reached second base.

McAvoy had a .375 batting average on the week for the Black Bears. He has one of just three Maine hits on Thursday night and followed that up by going 1-for-2 with an RBI in the first game of a doubleheader on Friday. He was 1-for-3 in the nightcap. McAvoy led off the bottom of the seventh inning of a tie game with a hit up the middle and scored the winning run when Joe Hough singled up the middle later in the inning.
