Stony Brook’s Rhys Duch (Victoria, B.C./Baggataway Club Team) is this week’s America East Player of the Week, while Binghamton’s Chris Mulheron (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) is the America East Rookie of the Week. The accolades were announced Monday (April 10).
Duch had his best week in a Stony Brook uniform, totaling six goals and two assists to lead Stony Brook to a perfect 2-0 week. Duch capped off the week with a career-best performance on Saturday against the Great Danes. Duch posted a career-best five goals, including the game-winner in the fourth quarter, and added an assist for a career single-game best of six points to lead Stony Brook past Albany for the first time since 2002. His fifth goal of the game gave the Seawolves a 12-9 lead in the final period and proved to be the margin of victory. On Monday, he notched a goal and an assist in Stony Brook's win over No. 19 Denver. It was Stony Brook's first win over a nationally-ranked opponent this season.
Mulheron scored a career-high four goals and had a pair of assists, leading Binghamton to a 9-5 win at Vermont in an America East Conference men's lacrosse game on Saturday afternoon. The freshman has now scored at least one goal in all nine of the Bearcats' games this season. He leads the squad with 13 goals, 15 assists and 28 total points.
