Maine's Joe Hough (West Roxbury, Mass./Catholic Memorial) and teammate Kevin McAvoy (Brewer, Maine/Brewer) have been named America East Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, while Albany's Mark Suchowiecki (Newburgh, N.Y./C.W. Post) takes home Pitcher of the Week accolades. The awards were announced on Monday (April 10).

Hough batted .533 with four runs scored and a team-high seven RBI. He finished the week with 16 total bases and a 1.067 slugging percentage, including a triple and two home runs. Hough went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBI in Maine’s 9-4 win over UMBC on Friday night and followed that up with a 2-for-5 performance with two runs scored and four RBI in Maine’s 16-7 win over the Retrievers. He was 2-for-5 in the series finale and went 3-for-4 in stolen base attempts on the week.

Suchowiecki threw a five-hit, complete-game shutout in UAlbany's 9-0 win against Hartford on Saturday and is this week’s Pitcher of the Week. The senior left-hander, who allowed just two Hawks to reach third base, struck out a season-high 10 and walked only one. He became the first Great Dane to fire a complete-game shutout and record double-digit strikeouts in the same game at the Division I level. Suchowiecki (2-4) lowered his ERA to a team-best 3.86.

McAvoy continued his unbelievable season this weekend against UMBC, earning his fourth Rookie of the Week award of the season. McAvoy led the team with a .615 batting average with five runs scored and five RBI. He had a double, triple and a pair of home runs, leading the Black Bears with a 1.308 slugging percentage. McAvoy had a .643 on-base percentage and was 2-for-4 with a homer, two runs scored and an RBI in Maine’s 9-4 win over UMBC in the series-opener. He followed that with a 2-for-4 outing with another homer, two runs scored and three RBI in Maine’s 16-7 win over the Retrievers. He closed out the week going 4-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI in Maine’s 6-4 win over UMBC.
