McGraw, Rembisz, McAvoy Earn Baseball Weekly Honors

University of Maine’s Matt McGraw (Burlington, Ontario/Nelson) is this week’s America East Player of the Week, while University of Vermont’s Bryan Rembisz (Clinton, Conn./Westbrook) is the America East Pitcher of the Week. Maine’s Kevin McAvoy (Brewer, Maine/Brewer) earns his second consecutive Rookie of the Week honor. The accolades were announced Monday (March 20).

McGraw led Maine to a record of 5-2 on the week and had hits in six of the seven games. McGraw had a four-hit game, two three-hit games and two two-hit games and tallied five RBI in Maine’s 16-5 win over Long Island. Against Long Island, he tied a Maine record with two triples in the game. On the week, McGraw had a .667 slugging percentage, a .568 on-base percentage and led Maine in runs, hits, and RBI.

Rembisz, a junior at Vermont, picked up the first victory of the season with five scoreless innings with three hits, three BB, six strikeouts against Fairleigh Dickinson Saturday. He also went 1-for-3 with an RBI versus Fairleigh Dickinson.

McAvoy hit .423 with six runs scored and nine RBI in Maine’s seven games last week. He had a hit in all seven games to extend his hitting streak to 13 games. McAvoy had an RBI in six of the seven games for the Black Bears and scored runs in four of the seven games. McAvoy had three doubles and two home runs, going three-for-five with two runs scored and an RBI in Maine’s 16-5 win over Long Island. McAvoy finished the week with a .769 slugging percentage.
