The Retrievers look to snap a two-game skid as they take on the Explorers... UMBC is led by Brian Hodges' 12.5 ppg... La Salle head coach John Giannini coached Maine for eight seasons (1996-2004), guiding the Black Bears to a 125-111 record, including two America East title game appearances, five trips to the conference semifinals and the two 20-win seasons... The Explorers are currently 4-1 on the early 2006-07 campaign.

Massachusetts 56, at Boston U. 54
The Terriers closed the game on an 8-0 run but came up just short versus UMass in the second of two regular-season contests at Agganis Arena for Boston U... Tyler Morris netted what would have been a go-ahead three with just over four seconds remaining, but was negated by a Boston U. timeout... Corey Lowe (16 points) and Brian Macon (13) both netted double-figures for the Terriers... UMass controlled the paint, outrebounding Boston U. 39-27 and tallying eight blocks... The Minutemen improved to 7-2 on the season with their only losses coming to then #4 Pittsburgh and Boston College.
at Penn State 56, Hartford 55
The Hawks nearly became the second America East squad to knock off the Big Ten’s Penn State this season as Stony Brook topped the Nittany Lions earlier this year... Hartford had its conference-best three-game winning streak snapped... Four Hawks scored in double-figures, led by Bo Taylor’s 12 points... Hartford had the ball on the final possession of the game, but was unable to convert for the win.
Virginia Commonwealth 75, at Albany 57
The America East favorite Great Danes had their current skid pushed to four games with the loss to the Colonial Athletic Association’s VCU... Jamar Wilson led the way for Albany with 14 points, while Jason Siggers added 13... The Great Danes were outrebounded 39-26... VCU was led by B.A. Walker’s game-high 25 points, including five three pointers... The contest was a rematch of last season’s ESPN BracketBusters contest.
Akron 90, at Binghamton 55
The Bearcats dropped their third-straight outing as the Zips dominated the glass, 46-26... Lazar Trifunovic paced Binghamton with 13 points and seven boards... Binghamton shot just 38.9 percent from the field, compared to the Zips’ 52.3 percent... Akron improved to 4-1 on the early 2006-07 campaign and has won five in a row.
New Hampshire 55, at Rutgers 48
The Wildcats had their losing streak extended to three games as they lost to the Big East’s Rutgers... Mike Christensen poured in a game-high 22 points, but it was not enough as UNH fell to 1-7 on the season... New Hampshire was just 2-for-11 from three-point land and turned the ball over six more times than the Scarlet Knights.

Hofstra 73, at Stony Brook 57
The Seawolves had their losing streak stretched to three games as they lost to Long Island rival Hofstra... Ricky Lucas returned to the Stony Brook lineup and was the team's leading scorer with 18 points... The Seawolves jumped out to a quick 7-2 lead, but the Pride reeled off an 18-2 run to take a 20-9 lead and they never trailed again... Former SBU baseball great Joe Nathan, a two-time MLB All-Star, had his #22 retired during a halftime ceremony.
