Maine's Andrew Horner (Kennebunk, Maine/Kennebunk) and Allyson Howatt (Fredericton, New Brunswick/Fredericton) have been named America East Men’s and Women’s Track Performers of the Week, respectively, while Stony Brook University's Mubaarak Muhammad (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) and University of New Hampshire's Erin Moore (Nashua, N.H./Nashua) earn Men’s and Women's Field Performers of the week, respectively. The awards were announced Tuesday (December 12).
Horner won two events as Maine was defeated 92-81 at New Hampshire in the Black Bears' first meet of the season. He won the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.66 and also won the 200 meters with a time of 23.73.
Howatt competed in her first meet for the Black Bears, winning two events as Maine was defeated 94-80 at New Hampshire. She took first place in the 55 meters with a time of 7.34 and added a first-place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 26.66.
Muhammad led the Seawolves as he won the long jump with a distance of 20' 2.5" and the triple jump with a leap of 44' 11". Later in the meet he added another top ten finish as he was seventh in the 500 meter with a time of 1:09.0.
Moore wins the Field Performer of the week honor for her second-straight week. She posted two first-place victories during the weekend to propel UNH past Maine, 94-80. Moore won the shot put with 43 ' 1.5" and the weight throw with 50' 7.5".
