Two Great Danes Highlight Weekly Volleyball Awards

For the second time this season, Albany's Shelby Goldman (Whitby, Ontario/Anderson Collegiate) has been named America East Player of the Week for volleyball, while teammate Blair Buchanan (Muncie, Ind./Delta) garners Setter of the Week accolades for the third time this year. New Hampshire's Kate Uitti (Pinckney, Mich./Pinckney) has earned the first Rookie of the Week award of her collegiate career. The accolades were announced on Monday (November 6).

Goldman recorded 38 kills, 33 digs, two service aces and two block assists to lead UAlbany to an undefeated week of America East Conference play. In a 3-0 sweep of Binghamton, Goldman tallied a match-high 15 kills, en route to becoming the all-time kills leader at UAlbany. She added 13 digs, one service ace and one block assist in the match. Goldman recorded her sixth-straight double-double with 15 kills and 10 digs in a 3-1 win over Maine on Senior Night. On the road at Hartford on Saturday, Goldman had eight kills and a match-high 10 digs in the three-game sweep.

Uitti recorded 113 assists on the week in two wins averaging 11.30 helpers per game. She notched a career-high 61 assists and 17 digs against Maine and 52 assists and 11 digs vs. Hartford on Friday night.

Buchanan averaged 39.3 assists, 10.0 digs and 2.6 total blocks over three matches last week. In the Great Danes’ 3-0 sweep of Binghamton, Buchanan posted a match-high 39 assists and added 11 digs, three block assists and two kills. On Senior Night against Maine, she totaled 45 assists to go along with 15 digs, three total blocks and three kills. Finally, in a three-game sweep of Hartford, Buchanan recorded a match-high 34 assists, four kills, four digs and two block assists.
