TODAY'S GAMES
Coppin State at UMBC, 5 p.m. (MASN)
In the first America East televised women’s basketball game of the season, the Retrievers welcome in Coppin State... The Eagles, who have won back-to-back MEAC titles, are favorite to win once again this season... UMBC hung tough against GW before falling 72-58 in its season opener
Boston University at Rhode Island, 7 p.m.
In a critical non-conference matchup, Boston University opens the season at Rhode Island... The Terriers went 7-4 in non-conference play last season and look to pick up where they left off.
New Hampshire at Massachusetts, 7 p.m.
New Hampshire travels to UMass to open its 2006-07 campaign... Last year, the Wildcats earned a convincing 59-43 win over the Atlantic-10 foe... Last weekend, however, the Minutewomen earned a 60-48 win over Vermont.
Sacred Heart at Binghamton, 7 p.m.
Binghamton opens the 2006-07 season with the defending Northeast Conference champion coming into the Events Center... The Pioneers were picked to repeat in the preseason poll... Meanwhile, the Bearcats have emerged as one of America East’s top teams earning a fourth-place preseason billing.
RECENT RESULTS
Sunday, November 12
at Purdue 83, Hartford 51 (Preseason WNIT | West Lafayette, Ind.)
Hartford was eliminated from the Preseason WNIT losing to Purdue on Sunday... The Hawks, however, became just the second America East team to advance to the second round of this tournament... Jamie McCabe led the Hawks with 14 points shooting a perfect 5-5 from the field and 4-4 from the charity stripe.
Saturday, November 11
at Maine 66, William & Mary 46
The Black Bears captured their seven-straigh home opener as they earned a convincing 66-46 win over William & Mary. Bracey Barker and Katie Whittier led Maine to the victory scoring 16 and 13 points, respectively.
