Dartmouth at Hartford, 7 p.m.
America East gets the women’s basketball season started as the two-time champion Hawks represent the conference in the annual preseason NIT... The Hawks will square off against fellow NCAA team Dartmouth, who won consecutive Ivy League titles of its own... The 16-team, single-elimination tournament gets teams in the flow of the season quickly... Eight of the squads advanced to the NCAA Tournament last spring.
Massachusetts at Vermont, 7 p.m.
Vermont entertains Massachusetts in an old Yankee Conference matchup... Vermont, who has one of the most storied programs in America East, looks to get back to its glory tonight in Burlington... UMass is coming off an 11-17 season.
UMBC at George Washington, 4 p.m.
UMBC was one of America East’s hottest teams down the stretch in 2006... They are excited about the 2006-07 season as they return 12 players, including four starters... They will have their hands full as they play 21st ranked GW... The 2006 Atlantic-10 champions were selected to repeat in the preseason coaches’ poll.
LaSalle at Albany, 7 p.m.
There is cause for optisism in Albany as head coach Trina Patterson and the Great Danes enter 2006-07... UAlbany returns 12 players from last year’s squad, including four starters... Junior Sherri Mikus and Senior Amanda Ward will look to get things started right against LaSalle.
