Boston University's Sarah Shute (Lincolnville, Maine/Somers (N.Y.)) has been named America East Player of the Week, while Jackie D'Amato (Upton, Mass./Nipmuc) of Maine has earned Rookie of the Week honors. The awards were announced on Monday (October 9).
Shute recorded the second hat trick of her career and added an assist in Boston U.’s 9-0 home victory over UMBC. After scoring one in the first half, Shute tallied another in the opening minute of the second half before completing her hat-trick effort in the 45th minute. The junior also assisted on the Terriers’ final goal of the day. On the year, Shute leads the Terriers in both goals (9) and points (22).
D’Amato scored two goals in Maine’s 3-2 victory over Vermont, including the game-winner. The goals were the first two of her career. D’Amato tipped in long passes as she stood alone on the left goal post in each of her two goals against Vermont.
