Boston University's Amy Seaman (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) and Albany's Teska Koch (Hilversum, Netherlands/’t sint Vituscollege Bussum) have been tabbed America East Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, for field hockey. The awards were announced Monday (October 30).
Seaman turned in a two-goal performance in a 3-0 victory against Maine on Senior Day, ensuring that Saturday’s contest would not be her last on the turf of Jack Barry Field. The senior striker scored once in each half, including the game winner in the 10th minute, to propel the Terriers to their third-straight regular-season conference crown. In Wednesday’s non-conference finale against cross-town rival Harvard, Seaman tallied a goal and an assist in the 4-1 triumph. She capped the scoring for Boston U. when she intercepted a pass deep in the Crimson zone before entering the circle and finding the boards from nine yards out.
Koch scored two goals, including the game winner in overtime to lead UAlbany to a 3-2 win over Vermont. With the win, the Great Danes clinched a share of the regular season title, the first for the program since joining the conference in 2001. Both of Koch’s goals were unassisted. The first came two minutes into the second period while the second came 7:11 into the overtime period. A shot by Kristin Holder was blocked by Vermont goalkeeper Kristen Heavens, with the rebound bouncing back to Koch, who directed the ball into the cage.
