Boston U. Capture Double-Overtime Win, Advance to Semifinals

Boston University’s Petur Sigurdsson (Hafnarfjordur, Iceland/Commercial Coll. of Iceland) netted a double-overtime goal to lift the fifth-seeded Terriers to a 1-0 win over No. 4 Albany on Sunday afternoon in Albany. Boston U. advances to play top-seeded Binghamton on Wednesday afternoon in Vestal, N.Y.

The game was scoreless through the first 103 minutes until Sigurdsson scored off a corner kick by Neil Hlavaty (Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East), who was credited with the assist, at 103:25.

The Terriers improve to 10-4-4, while the Great Danes close out the 2006 campaign 7-10-2 overall.

Boston University’s Zach Riffett (Brenham, Texas/Brenham) made six saves in the shutout effort, while UA’s Steward Ceus registered two saves.
