Vermont's Danielle Collins (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) and Boston University's Suus Dekker (Rotterdam, Holland/Insula College) have been tabbed Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, for America East field hockey. The awards were announced on Monday (October 23).

Collins led Vermont to a pair of victories last week with five goals in two games. The junior opened up the scoring with the first two tallies of the contest in a 4-2 road victory over Dartmouth on Wednesday. Collins then helped Vermont clinch its second straight appearance in the America East Championship with a hat trick in a 4-3 come from behind win at New Hampshire. She scored the tying goal with 3:21 left in regulation and then netted the game-winner just 39 seconds into the extra stanza. Collins became the first Catamount in the history of the program to record three hat tricks in one season and leads the America East in points and goals scored.

Dekker accounted for all of Boston U.’s scoring in a thrilling 2-1 overtime road victory against Albany, scoring the first goal of the game before notching the game winner just 40 seconds into overtime. The freshman sent home a rebound with 44 seconds left before halftime to give the visitors a 1-0 edge. After the Terriers earned a quick penalty corner in overtime, Dekker redirected a shot by Holly Wiles to the boards to end the game. On Sunday, Dekker tallied her sixth goal of the year to help Boston U. post a 7-0 victory over Dartmouth.
