Bowers, Solberg Earn Weekly Honors in Women's Soccer

Binghamton's Kristie Bowers (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Olympia) has been named America East Player of the Week honors in women's soccer, while Vermont's Jenny Solberg (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) collects America East Rookie of the Week accolades for the first time this season. The awards were announced on Monday (October 16).

Bowers earned two shutouts during the week in wins over UMBC and Maine. The senior goalkeeper has record six solo shutouts for the season, including four in the last five games. She also established a school record for career saves during the UMBC win. She now has 377 saves.

The freshman midfielder scored goals in back-to-back games this week for the Catamounts. She scored the game-tying goal in a 1-1 tie with Hartford and added another goal on a penalty kick in the first half against UMBC. She is tied for the team lead in scoring with six points in nine games.
