Hartford’s Kenny Adeleke (Queens, N.Y./Paul Robeson/Hofstra) and New Hampshire’s Blagoj Janev (Sydney, Australia/Australia Institute of Sport) share Player of the Week accolades, while Boston University’s Corey Hassan (Merrimack, N.H./Merrimack) and Vermont’s Mike Trimboli (Norwalk, Conn./St. Luke’s) earn Rookie of the Week honors. The awards were announced Monday (January 23).

Adeleke led the Hawks in scoring and rebounding for the week in close games against Binghamton and Stony Brook. He recorded 20 points and 10 rebounds against the Bearcats in a 57-55 loss, going 6-of-8 from the field and a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line. The 6-9 forward then scored 22 points and added a game-high 13 rebounds in a 71-68 victory over the Seawolves to extend his streak of double-doubles to 10 straight games. Adeleke now has 14 double-doubles on the season and 49 for his career. The 14 double-doubles ties Vin Baker’s total from the 1991-92 season for third on the school’s single season list for most double-doubles.

Janev matched his career high with 24 points in Sunday’s overtime win at Albany as he was 6-of-11 from the field and added two assists and two blocks. Against Dartmouth, Janev was 6-of-11 from the field and 7-of-8 from the free throw line, accounting for a game-high 22 points. He also posted seven rebounds. Versus Maine, Janev was a perfect 8-of-8 from the stripe and registered six rebounds.

Hassan scored in double figures in a pair of Boston U. wins, as the Terriers snapped a four-game losing streak with victories over Stony Brook (73-65) and Vermont (43-41) last week. Hassan scored 16 points and grabbed two rebounds in the win over the Seawolves, as he shot 4-for-9 from 3-point range. The hot shooting snapped a four-game slump which had seen Boston U.’s second-leading scorer average just 7.0 ppg and shoot just 20 percent (5-25) from beyond the arc. On Sunday against Vermont, Hassan hit the game-winner with 2.6 seconds remaining, as the Terriers came back from an eight-point second-half deficit. He tied for team honors with 11 points and added four rebounds. He hit one free throw to tie the game at 41-41 with 1:02 left, then hit a leaner from 16 feet to win it for the Terriers.

Trimboli shot 53 percent from the floor and 75 percent from beyond the arc in two games last week. In a win over then-first-place Albany Wednesday, he scored a team-high 21 points going 6-for-9 from the floor and a perfect 4-for-4 from three-point range, while adding a game-high five assists. He also had a game-high 14 points at Boston U. Sunday.
