Bowers, Hourihan Earn First Women's Soccer Weekly Honors

Binghamton's Kristie Bowers has been named America East Player of the Week, while Sara Hourihan of New Hampshire is the first Rookie of the Week of the 2005 season.

Bowers has allowed just one goal in her first four games of 2005. She recorded three straight shutouts to open the season and had a regular-season shutout streak of 525:14 snapped in a 1-0 loss to Harvard. Bowers hadn’t been scored upon in the regular season since allowing a goal against Boston University back on October 28, 2004. She owns a 96.9 save percentage and a minuscule 0.23 goals against average.

Hourihan scored the game-winning golden goal versus Brown in UNH’s home opener on September 2. With the game scoreless through regulation and the first overtime session, Hourihan recorded her first collegiate points with a goal at 105:01 that ended the game. She has started all three matches for the Wildcats this season.
