New Hampshire's Michael Card and Vermont's Panos Georgiadis share the season's first Player of the Week award, while UVM's Tom Critz garners the Rookie of the Week honor. The awards were announced on Monday (September 6).

Card was named co-MVP of the UNH Nike Fall Classic, along with Georgiadis. In his first matches as a forward after playing both midfield and back previously in his collegiate career, Card scored a goal in each of the two weekend matches, both UNH victories. Against Iona on Friday, he corralled a pass and sent it into the right corner of the net in the 69th minute to give the Wildcats an insurance goal. In the 23rd minute against Quinnipiac on Sunday, Card drove past a defender and sent the ball into the lower left corner of the net to notch what turned out to be the winning goal.

Georgiadis scored the important first goal of the game in each of the Catamounts wins and led UVM to their second-straight UNH Nike Fall Soccer Classic title. His first half goal in the opener versus Quinnipiac was the eventual game-winner. Georgiadis also has the unique distinction of scoring a goal in his first game at St. Lawrence (as a freshman in 2004) and in his first game at Vermont.

Critz allowed just one goal in two games as Vermont won its second straight tournament title. He made three saves in each game and with a 2-0 blanking of Quinnipiac on Sept. 2., Critz became the first Catamount goalie since 2002 to record a shutout in his first career start.
