Smagula recorded a goal and assist from her backfield position to help lead UNH to a pair of victories last week. Smagula scored a golden goal in the 96th minute to lift the Wildcats to a 4-3 road victory vs. UMBC in the America East conference opener for both teams. She had an assist in the 3-0 win vs. Holy Cross when she intercepted a pass just outside the penalty area, advanced to midfield with a couple of touches and served a ball over the Crusaders’ defense that teammate Michelle Sheehan converted into a goal. Cochran scored both goals in Vermont’s conference opening win over defending America East Champion, Binghamton, 2-0. Cochran has scored four goals in the last two games for Vermont. Leads the team in scoring with seven goals, has also handed out a team-high five assists for 19 points.
Pelletier recorded an assist and a goal last week as the Hawks went 2-1-0. She assisted on the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory at Army and then scored the game-winning goal in the Hawks’ conference opener at Albany. The goal was the first of her collegiate career. Sheehan scored a goal in both of UNH’s victories last week. In the conference opener at UMBC, Sheehan gave the Wildcats a 3-2 lead in the 82nd minute. She scored her first goal of the season against Holy Cross when she ran down a service over the top of the defense and fired a 25-yard shot inside the right post.
