Binghamton University’s Luc Vallone (Hoosick Falls, N.Y./Hoosick Falls) and Boston University's Neil Hlavaty (Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East) have been named America East Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively. The awards were announced Monday (September 26).

Valone scored two goals and added one assist in Binghamton’s two victories last week. He had a goal and an assist in Binghamton’s 3-2 come-from-behind win at Vermont on Saturday in the team’s first conference game of the year. With Binghamton down 2-1, Vallone assisted on the tying goal with 17:14 left in regulation. He then took matters into his own hands, scoring the winning goal with 12:11 left to go. Earlier in the week, Vallone netted a goal in Binghamton’s 3-0 win over Oneonta.

Hlavaty scored the game-tying goal in Boston’s conference opener versus the University of Maine on Saturday with a kick from 18 yards to the far side after the Terriers fell behind by a goal in the first half. He led the team with four shots on the night. Hlavaty also tallied the assist on Sedrick Chin’s (St. Mary, Jamaica/Hotchkiss School) game-winner in the 87th minute on Tuesday for the Terriers’ first win since Sept. 1. He is one of only seven Terriers to start all seven games thus far and the only rookie to do so and is now tied for the team lead in points (5), goals (2), shots (10) and game-winning goals (1).
