Boston, Mass.— Boston University (6-0 in America East, 15-1 Overall) has earned the No. 1 seed and the right to host the America East Women’s Lacrosse Championship May 5 and 7 at Nickerson Field in Boston, Mass.
University of New Hampshire (5-1, 10-7) is the No. 2 seed. The University at Albany (4-2, 6-11) and University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) (3-3, 5-9) are slated as the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds, respectively.
Boston University will meet UMBC in the first semifinal Thursday, May 5) at 1 p.m. New Hampshire and Albany will follow at 3:30 p.m. The championship will be played at 1 p.m. Saturday (May 7). Both semifinals games are rematches from last year’s championship.
Last year, No. 1 New Hampshire defeated No. 2 Boston University by a score of 11-9 to win the America East Championship. Boston U. has made six-straight appearances in the championship game, with the last three coming against New Hampshire. Historically the No. 1 seed has been very successful in the championship, with the top team reaching the finals all nine years and winning seven times.
